RSS Infrastructure Ltd previously announced that they are proud to be supporting the British Armed Forces ‘Force Atlantic’ rowing team as a ‘Gold’ sponsor for the ‘Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge’, otherwise known as the ‘World’s Toughest Row’.

The Force Atlantic team are the first official British Army team to enter the event and they have the daunting task of getting the boat safely to the other side whilst overcoming a series of obstacles including; contending with the mental anguish that the ordeal will bring as a result of the solitary lifestyle whilst on board as well as sleep deprivation, salt sores, and physical extremes inflicted by the race.

Yorkshire rowers embark on tour of the county

  • The team from the Army Foundation College in Harrogate are training for the next Talisker Whiskey Atlantic Challenge.

  • The four servicemen are to row 3,000 nautical miles across the Atlantic Ocean.

  • As part of their training, the team are currently on a 'pop-up rowing tour' around Yorkshire.

Force Atlantic, the British Army’s Yorkshire based trans-Atlantic rowing team, has embarked upon a ‘pop-up rowing tour’, incorporating stops at some of the county’s most iconic locations.

The four intrepid servicemen visited Castle Howard and RHS Harlow Carr this weekend, complete with rowing machines, to train for their upcoming challenge.

The first official team to represent the British Army in a 3,000 mile rowing challenge across the Atlantic is set to recruit its final member - who will be the youngest serviceman to ever undertake such a challenge in the world.

A junior soldier is to be selected from among the recruits of the Army Foundation College (AFC) in Harrogate later this year, joining the ranks of staff taking part in the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge - which sees rowers setting off from the Canary Islands, to a finish line in Antigua.
